Description
Kale ‘Chou Moellier’ (Brassica oleracea var. medullosa) is a type of tree kale or marrow-stem kale. Grown in South Africa, it produces a thick, edible stem and loose leaves, rather than a tight head. Both the leaves and the soft, marrow-filled stem are edible and have a mild, slightly sweet flavour compared to other kales. ‘Chou Moellier’ can be used similarly to other kales – sautéed, steamed, added to soups and stews, or even used as animal fodder.
